Flag Parade Marking the Beginning of Multicultural Week!
Multicultural Food Fair Information
Hi, everyone!
Thank you so much for being willing to set up and host a table at our "International Food Fair" for Multi-Cultural Week. I hope that it is profitable for you, and a great experience for all students on campus.
Some info:
1) Lunch is extended on Wednesday, November 14 to 45-minutes. The time frame is 11:34-12:19, so your student reps/parent volunteers, etc. should set up in the "Student Plaza" around 11:00. The requested amount of tables and/or chairs will be set up in your spot before 11:00. Look for your banner (and your name on your table), so you know which one(s) are yours.
2) Remember, there is no refrigeration or ovens to keep your cold items cold or hot items hot, so it is best that the you have the food picked up and/or delivered sometime between 11:00 and 11:20.
3) My understanding is that no one except for Melissa needs extension cord/power... is that correct? Please let me know if you do also, and what you need it for. (As for "cultural" music, Lenny will be setting up the large sound system and playing a mix of different songs that I burned on a CD for him, which includes music from all over.. including the country of your cuisine).
4) I will making large banners that will be hanging on these 10-foot tall poles, that will say your various cuisines ("Italian," "Mexican," "Philippino," etc.) so you do not have to make those. However, if you want to make signs that say what you're selling and for how much, you can (should) do so.
5) Please remember to make copies of your informational flyer. Groups that do not have an informational/educational flyer will NOT be allowed to participate in the Food Fair next year.
6) We would like for your tables to be decorated according to your culture/cuisine. Props would be awesome, but are not required. At the very least, please have table cloth(s) that reflect the color of that country's flag. Dollar Tree and Party City are great places to find things for your table.
7) Per Mr. Schwuchow's request, all people (adults and students) working at the tables must be dressed according to the cuisine or country. The more elaborate/authentic, the better.. but if all you wear are shirts that are the colors of the country's flag, that would work too. :)
8) We will not be providing cash boxes, so managing your cash is up to you. A teacher or trustworthy parent is recommended. Also, remember to keep and collect your "tickets" (in an envelope, box or whatever) as Mr. Schwuchow will give your group $0.50 for every ticket collected. :) I will go around at the end of lunch and count your tickets with you, collect them, and record how much money you are to be given.
Any questions, comments, concerns?? Please email me! Thank you for helping make this event a success! I hope it is profitable for your group.
